Safer Play: Responsible Play at Iron Vesper

Iron Vesper has no money in it, but the games use chance, rhythm and near misses the way gambling games do, and habits do not care what the currency is. This page holds the tools to keep it a game: reminders, a round cap, a loss line, a nightly last call and pauses that mean it. They all work in this browser, need no account and send nothing to us.

Your tools

Signal checks

A reminder that stops the screen at set times and shows how long you have been here, how many rounds you have played and what your bolts did. You choose: carry on, or stop for fifteen minutes.

Every 30 minutes

Round cap

The most rounds you want to play in one visit. Five rounds before the cap you get a note; at the cap the stalls close until you start a new visit by closing the tab.

No cap

Loss line

How far down you are willing to go in one visit. Bolts are not money, but practising a limit is the point: when your bolts this visit fall that far, the stalls close for the rest of the visit, refill or not.

No loss line

Last call

A time each night when the yard closes on this device. From last call until 06:00 the stalls stay shut; reading, Side Tracks and this page stay open. Last call can only be changed or removed while the yard is open.

No last call set

Pause the games

Close every stall on this device at once. Once set, a pause of sixty minutes or longer runs its full length here, and clearing the Logbook leaves it in place. The same choices sit behind the Pause button at the top of every page.

Calm mode

Turns off the movement: reels, cards and dice land at once, with no tumbling, no glow and no build-up. Results are exactly the same. Calm mode also follows your device's reduced-motion setting.

Keeping it a game

Games of chance feel different from the inside. A near miss feels like being close; a quiet run feels like something is due; a good round feels like a reason to keep going. None of that is true. Every spin, deal and throw here is drawn fresh, with no memory of the last one. Our manual Chance has no memory explains why.

Three habits help more than any tool. Decide before you start how long you want to play, and tell the site with a reminder or a round cap. Treat the end of your planned time as the end, even mid-run. And notice why you are playing: to pass ten minutes, fine; to feel better, to avoid something, or to win something back, that is the moment to close the tab.

Playing or success in these games does not imply future success at real-money gambling. A good evening here is luck in a game built for entertainment, not skill that carries over to anything with a stake.

A two-minute self-check

Nine statements about gaming and gambling anywhere, not only here. Choose how often each is true for you. Scoring happens right here on the page; the answers go nowhere.

Signs it has stopped being a game

  • You play longer than you planned, more often than not.
  • You think about playing when you are doing something else.
  • You feel low, irritable or restless when you cannot play.
  • You play to cope with stress, boredom or loneliness.
  • Gambling with real money has started to take money you need.
  • People close to you have said they are worried.

One sign on its own is not a diagnosis. Several, or one that keeps coming back, is worth talking about with someone.

Blocking tools

  • GAMSTOP excludes you from every gambling site and app licensed in Great Britain, free.
  • Gamban blocks gambling sites and apps on your phone and computer.
  • Plenty of UK banking apps include a gambling block for your card; turning it off again usually comes with a cooling-off delay.
  • On this site: the Pause button and last call, which cannot be undone early.

Free, confidential support in the UK

Each of these is free to contact, today, whether the worry is about you or someone you love.

Under 18?

Iron Vesper is for adults only, and the age question at the door is there for that reason. If you are under 18 and want to talk about gaming, gambling or anything else, Childline is free and confidential on 0800 1111. Parents and carers can find guides to games and online safety at Internet Matters.

Our promises

  • Bolts will never be sold, and nothing on this site will ever cost money.
  • No daily rewards, streaks, countdowns or messages pulling you back.
  • No invented players, leaderboards or claims about other people's results.
  • The same page for everyone: no hidden versions, no tracking and no adverts.
  • Limits you set are kept, and a pause of sixty minutes or longer runs to its end.
